A church in Florida is planning to burn the Quran on the anniversary of 9/11.
Why would any church do this? It won't hurt the extremists (it will only help them by sparking extreme anger) and will insult millions of people who peacefully and faithfully follow the Quran.

The fact that it is has "world" and "outreach" in its name and is planning this is the worst kind of irony.
As part of the health care reform bill, there was a little blip in there about a new tax that many aren't aware of: the tanning bed tax. It goes into effect today.

In addition to the previous post about giving the President the authority to shut down the Internet for up to 120 days without approval, there are now reports, per http://www.infowars.com/, of the following:
"...the government’s cybersecurity strategy revolves around issuing Internet users with ID “tokens” without which they will not be able to visit websites, the latest salvo against web freedom which, in combination with Senator Joe Lieberman’s ‘kill switch’ bill, will serve to eviscerate the free Internet as we know it."

The United States Senate has approved a bill that gives President Obama the means to force internet service providers to shut down the internet up to 120 days before he needs Congressional approval to extend it further than the 120 days. It's called Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act. It also means the government is getting bigger with the creation of the White House Office for Cyberspace Policy and a National Center for Cybersecurity and Communications department.
Obviously, there is controvery surrounding this bill with an Australian newspaper noting "saying any action would disrupt other countries as most of the critical internet infrastructure is located in the US" here.
Critics within the United States fear that freedom of speech will be violated.

Read more...It's been awhile since I've posted on this blog because I haven't had the urge to since nothing new has happened in the political arena worth talking about. The Dems are still pushing their health agenda and the Republicans are fighting them every step of the way. Meanwhile, Nancy Pelosi still looks like an idiot and the financial security of our nation looks very bleak indeed. Homes are still being foreclosed on and President Obama's plan to save people's homes doesn't seem to be working all that well. No surprise there.
